Oklahoma RB DeMarco Murray to miss title game with hamstring - NCAA Football - Bowls - 2008 - SI.com
Is this the end for Okalahoma? I’ve gotta think that something like 80% of Bradford’s passing yards come on YAC. A quick perusal of Murray’s stats show that he had 395 receiving yards this season, but 56 against Texas and 71 against Tech. If I recall correctly, it was Murray that started the rout against Tech by just carving up their defense on short catches. I’m just irritated generally by the notion that Bradford and Harrell are great quarterbacks when really all they do is manage the talent around them, much like a secretary, a respectable skill, really, but nothing worthy of being deemed the best player in college football. With Tech, was it only obvious to me that Crabtree was the best player and only true genius on that team? And gesturing toward the white/black divide I mentioned earlier, we have these receivers and running backs who really are the superior skilled players (and are largely black) who will be getting paid but are not being recognized as the true engines of accomplishment and excitement in college football this year. DeMarco Murray will be missed while Tebow and Bradford sputter for first downs. I’m already bored thinking about it.
