Pete Carroll complained about the undefined goals of the BCS. What’s the point? Put the best teams together, the most deserving teams, the teams with the best resumes? I think it’s obvious that the point of the BCS is not to put the best two teams together, but to put together the teams with the best two “grades,” in some sense, measured over the entire semester. And that’s why this makes so much sense for college football vis-a-vis professional sports.
