It’s time that normal Joe Six-pack American is finally represented in the position of vice presidency.

Sarah Palin
Yeah, you’re right BECAUSE JOE SIX PACK SHOULDN’T BE VICE FUCKING PRESIDENT!

Um, “Joe Six pack American” may or may not have a high school education, beer gut and illiteracy issues. Just saying. But yes, let’s get someone painfully (below) average at their job and put them one proverbial heartbeat away from being the leader of one of the most influential countries in the world. Tremendously horrible idea.

Why construe her words so literally and then bash her for your construction of her words? I think everyone can agree with the spirit of her words: the interests of average people should be represented in politics, not just the interests of, say, Wall Street; I’ve been an average person*, so I can represent you. In fact, Joe Biden said pretty much the same thing (“Come up with me to Scranton! Kick it in Wilmington!”). Everything flows from how you construct her words, and how you do that depends on how generous you are as a human being with attempting to find value on the one hand, or attempting to destroy on the other.
* average person = shares circumstances with a large number of people, not average intelligence, integrity, etc. I think most people can agree that such people can be extraordinary.
