I’ve never hated Notre Dame because they haven’t been really good in my lifetime (maybe the early 90s but they weren’t that good for that long, and they lost to Texas A&M, the ultimate disgrace). I have talked with quite a few Notre Dame alums/fans in the past year and a half or so, and I’ve finally started feeling some Notre Dame hate myself. It’s not that I hate the people themselves—they’re perfectly nice people—but it’s the way they talk about themselves and their team. I cheer for Penn State but I don’t pretend that I’m special for being a Penn State fan. Ya know, I’m a Penn State fan because that’s where I’m from. I went to Cornell, but I could very well have gone to any school and that school would be my alma mater. I’m afraid that Notre Dame alums/fans actually think they’re special for having gone to ND or even for cheering for ND.
