My cousin Jeff told me that the way to meet people in a new place where you have no friends is to just go to the same place over and over and eventually you will talk to someone or someone will talk to you. That’s worked for me in the past, usually with food places, because I love to eat. The problem is now that I’m trying to save money so I’m not eating out on a regular basis. I live next to Eastern Market, so I’ve been to some places regularly so this woman who sells Asian groceries and a butcher recognize me and talk with me. But unlike sitting down and eating at a restaurant, there isn’t much time for chit chat when you buy food and bizzounce. I hit a low yesterday when I went back to this Thai restaurant, Sala Thai, whose food I really don’t like, just because Vijay and I had talked with a waitress there a few weeks back and she was nice. The food, again, was bad, so I don’t think I can go back.
