With Barack Obama running for president, I don’t think, “wow, how far we’ve come as a country!” I think more like, “we might be able to get past some of our racial prejudices depending on the person.” And really, what does that mean?
Yes, perhaps if people decided to vote for Obama because he’s black, not because he’s Obama, then we could talk about progress. But most people reject that line of thought, I think.
