Billboard Album Charts - Death Cab #1
Hey Walter, remember when we interviewed the bassist for Juno and he was in that other band? I guess they made it big, huh?
It’s great to see Death Cab reach such levels of success. I remember during my first year of law school, a sorority girl that sat behind me in class talked loudly about going to see a Death Cab show.
When Kevin and I met Nick Harmer in 2001, he was gracious and enthusiastic. I think that both Nick Harmer and Nate Mendel played bass on the second (and last) Juno record, and that Kevin was a huge fan of Nate Mendel’s. I seem to recall Kevin asking about the setup between Nick and Nate, which could’ve been weird, but nothing bad happened. The interview setup was strange because Kevin ended up interviewing Arlie and Nick, an interim member of the group, but the transcript read like they had a really fun time.
I haven’t listened to the new record except for the radio edit of “I will Possess Your Heart”, which I don’t like because Gibbard does that “I love you Gwenevere” thing with his voice. I read something that said that Death Cab was influenced by Brainiac on the newest record, which intrigues me, but not that much.
