Meet Hiroyuki Nishimura, the Bad Boy of the Japanese Internet

Ever the iconoclast, Nishimura scoffs at the idea [that Japan’s Web 2.0 boom is just beginning]. In a chapter of Why 2channel Will Never Fail titled “Debunking the Myth of a Bright Future,” he predicts there will be no more major innovations on the Web. He believes his success is a fluke and encourages young people who idolize him to keep trying to land one of the dwindling number of jobs at big corporations. “Everyone’s writing, You should join a startup or go to work for yourself,’” he says. He has no patience with anyone who’s so clueless, so kuki yomenai, as to fall for that. “They’re so stupid, they actually believe the stuff they read on the Internet.”
