I’ve always thought SteerS took its main influence from Slint, as I frequently pejoratively called the band a Slintstrumental act. I see from the video now how much of a debt SteerS owes to the Jesus Lizard in terms of the band’s on stage antics and horrible vocals. On the other hand, SteerS is more of your friendly, neighborhood noise rock band than the abrasive Jesus Lizard. Would David Yow bake the audience basilisk-themed sugar cookies? Somehow I doubt it.
