I played Starcraft under the alias smalter.

I live in New York City.

I read email sent to smalter at gmail dot com.

I got this not long after writing a diss review of Yelp on Yelp. I don’t think it’s retaliation but I suspect what i wrote drew people’s attention to my reviews. I wonder if it would make a difference to them if I were clearly Chinese from my profile (I write pseudonymously).

We’re writing to let you know about our decision to remove your review of Great Lake Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Your review was flagged by the Yelp community, and our Support team has determined that it falls outside our Review Guidelines (http://www.yelp.com/faq#great_review) because it contains inappropriate language. We can handle strong language, but there’s no need for hate speech and other displays of bigotry. Your friends probably know when you’re being funny, but the millions of people who read reviews on Yelp may not.

We hope you will continue to provide great reviews, while keeping in mind our Review Guidelines. See you on Yelp!

Regards, Frank

Removed Review: The food here is decent. But the place is so inhumanely depressing that I can never go back. Whenever I get the urge to eat Chinese, dim sum in particular, and I think of Great Lakes, I just get depressed. The restaurant is a giant concrete box with no windows. It’s dark and dank inside. It smells funny, and I’m not talking about the Chinese people inside. It’s just so ridiculously dark and smelly, I can’t stand it. I will never go back to Great Lakes.
